Hi peeps,
If you have a Porlex handgrinder. This article is for you.
I want to share with you the easiest mod that you can do to improve the performance of your Porlex handgrinder. (Disclaimer: I have a Porlex clone, so it may look slightly different if you have an original Porlex)
If you look open up and look at the grind adjustment nut, you will see something like this.
This will cause a bit of play on the adjustment nut which will indirectly cause the inner burr to wobble during grinding. This will result in inconsistent grind sizes. Not really a good thing, if you want to have an even extraction to your coffee.
An easy mod to do is to add another nut to tighten the adjustment nut. It will look like this.
Having this extra nut will greatly restrict the movement and play of the inner burr. Thus resulting in a more evenly distributed grinds.
Please make sure you tighten it with a socket or a wrench. If you just just use your hand to tighten it. There is a possibility that this nut will drop off while you are grinding your beans (Please do not ask me how I know… :).
So there you have it! The easiest mod for your Porlex handgrinder. Enjoy your next pourover coffee!’
